Dear Constituent,
Thank you for sharing your thoughts with me regarding hemp production. I value the correspondence I get from people back home in Wisconsin, and I welcome this opportunity to address your concerns.
On May 26, 2009 Congressman Ron Paul (R-TX) introduced the Industrial Hemp Farming Act of 2009. This legislation would have amended the Controlled Substances Act to exclude hemp from being classified as "marijuana" and would also grant states the right to regulate hemp production. A similar bill has not been introduced in the 112th Congress. Should similar legislation come before the Senate I will certainly keep your thoughts in mind.
Again, thank you for contacting me. I appreciate knowing your thoughts on this issue.
Sincerely,
Herb Kohl
United States Senator
