Oregon Hemp Farming Bill to Become Law!

Washington, DC — The new 111th
Congress is now in session we need
Congressmen David Wu, who represents the 1st
District of Oregon, Greg Walden, who
represents the 2nd District, Earl Blumenauer,
who represents the 3rd District, Peter
DeFazio, who represents the 4th District and
Kurt Schrader, who represents the 5th
District, to become co-sponsors for HR 1866,
the Industrial Hemp Farming Act of 2009,
which will allow farmers in Oregon and the
rest of U.S. to once again have the
opportunity to grow this valuable
agricultural crop.
In this session SB 676, a hemp farming bill,
was passed by the House and Senate and is
expected to be signed by Governor Kulongoski.
In May of 1998 Oregon State University
published a study titled "Feasibility of
Industrial Hemp Production in the United
States Pacific Northwest," which is an
excellent reference on the subject.
