July 30, 2009

Washington, DC — The new 111th Congress is now in session we need Congressmen David Wu, who represents the 1st District of Oregon, Greg Walden, who represents the 2nd District, Earl Blumenauer, who represents the 3rd District, Peter DeFazio, who represents the 4th District and Kurt Schrader, who represents the 5th District, to become co-sponsors for HR 1866, the Industrial Hemp Farming Act of 2009, which will allow farmers in Oregon and the rest of U.S. to once again have the opportunity to grow this valuable agricultural crop.

In this session SB 676, a hemp farming bill, was passed by the House and Senate and is expected to be signed by Governor Kulongoski.

In May of 1998 Oregon State University published a study titled "Feasibility of Industrial Hemp Production in the United States Pacific Northwest," which is an excellent reference on the subject.
