Thank you for contacting me about industrial hemp production. I appreciate hearing from you.
As you may know, Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) introduced Amendment 2220 to the Agriculture Reform, Food, and Jobs Act of 2012 (S. 3240) on June 7, 2012. This measure would allow for the production of certain Cannabis sativa L. plants for the purpose of producing industrial hemp.
This amendment was not voted upon during the consideration of S. 3240 and currently, no related legislation has been introduced in the Senate. I understand your thoughts on this matter and value your opinion. Please be assured that I will keep your thoughts in mind should similar legislation come before me in the full Senate.
Thank you again for your correspondence. Please do not hesitate to contact me in the future if I can be of assistance.
U.S. Senator, Pennsylvania
