Dear Constituent,
Thank you for taking the time to contact me regarding H.R. 1831, the Industrial Hemp Farming Act. I welcome the opportunity to hear your views on the issues that are important to you and Western North Carolina.
As you know, H.R. 1831 would amend the Controlled Substances Act to exclude industrial hemp from the definition of marihuana.
Currently, this bill has been referred to the House Energy and Commerce. While I do not sit on this committee, I will monitor this bill s progress. Should this legislation be brought before the entire House for consideration, I will remember your thoughts on this issue.
I appreciate you taking the time to contact me. Hearing your opinions on legislation helps me better serve the residents of the 11th District of North Carolina. I encourage you to visit my website at http://shuler.house.gov and sign up for my e-newsletter. If you need assistance with a federal agency or have any other questions that I may be of assistance with, please call my office at (828) 252-1651.
Sincerely,
Heath Shuler
