Dear Constituent:
People ID: 729xxxx
Thank you for contacting me regarding H.R. 1866, the Industrial Hemp Farming Act. It was a pleasure to hear from you.
As you may know, Representative Ron Paul of Texas introduced H.R. 1866 on April 2, 2009. If enacted into law, this bill would remove industrial hemp from the definition of marijuana and grant states exclusive regulatory authority over the growing and processing of industrial hemp and jurisdiction in any action regarding its cultivation. The bill has been referred to the House Judiciary Committee.
Though I am not currently an active Member of this committee, I will continue to follow this important issue. Should I have the opportunity to vote on H.R. 1866 in the full House, I will certainly keep your views in mind.
Again, thank you for contacting me. It is an honor to serve in the United States House of Representatives and have the benefit of your advice. If you would like more information on this or any other issue, please visit my website at http://mikepence.house.gov.
Letter Number: 255xxxx
Warmest regards,
Mike Pence
Member of Congress
