Louisiana Hemp Law – Act 164
Provides for the regulation of industrial hemp
Status: Signed into law by Gov. Bel Edwards on June 6, 2019
Amends the definition of “marijuana” to exclude industrial hemp, adds a definition of “industrial hemp”, and adds certain substances to Schedule I of the Uniform Controlled Dangerous Substances Law.
Establishes a 15% excise tax on all hemp and CBD products
POSITION: Strongly opposed to unnecessary and burdensome tax only on hemp derived products.
